Grants For Korean Literature Studies Overseas 2009
대산문화재단은 한국문화를 널리 선양하고 한국문학 및 문화에 대한 이해와 교류의 폭을 넓히고자 해외의 한국문학 연구 기관 및 개인을 지원합니다. 한국문학 발전을 위해 노력하시는 분들의 많은 참여 바랍니다.
대산문화재단은 대산 신용호 선생의 뜻에 따라 “민족문화 창달”과 “한국문학의 세계화”에 이바지하고자 교보생명보험주식회사의 출연으로 창립되었습니다.
The Daesan Foundation is supporting institutes and individuals who propose projects in the area of Korean literature studies overseas to promote the growth of a wider understanding and interchange of Korean literature and culture. People working towards the development of Korean literature are encouraged to participate in the program.
The Daesan Foundation, adhering to the will of Daesan, Yong-Ho Shin (the honorific name, Daesan, meaning "Great Mountain"), aims to contribute to the fostering of Korea's national culture and the globalization of Korean literature through funding provided by the Kyobo Life Insurance Co., Ltd.

Ⅰ. 프로그램 안내 General Information 본 재단은 다음 사항에 따라 해외의 한국문학 연구를 지원합니다. The Daesan Foundation provides support for research conducted abroad in Korean literature in the following manner: |
1. 목적 Purpose
- 본 사업은 해외에서의 한국문학 연구와 그와 관련된 제반활동에 대한 지원을 통하여 한국문학연구의 활성화와 한국문화에 대한 이해 제고를 목적으로 합니다.
This program aims to stimulate research of Korean literature and to increase understanding regarding Korean culture by providing support for the research of Korean literature abroad, as well as supporting related activities.
2. 지원부문 Project Categories
1) 한국문학 연구, 출판 Research and publication of Korean literature
2) 한국문학 관련도서 번역, 출판 Translation and publication related to Korean literature
3) 한국문학 전공 대학원생 장학금 Scholarships for graduate students majoring in Korean literature
4) 한국문학 관련 학술회의 Academic seminars related to Korean literature
5) 한국문학 관련도서 Books related to Korean literature
6) 기타 한국문학 진흥을 위한 관련 연구 및 사업
Various other projects for promoting Korean literature
※ 지정공모 과제
• 한국문학사 연구출판 Research and publication of "A History of Korean Literature"
• 한국문학개론서 연구출판 Research and publication of "An Introduction to Korean Literature"
* 한국문학 작품의 영, 불, 독, 서어 번역 및 출판은 재단의 한국문학 번역지원 사업에 응모하셔야 합니다
For the translation of Korean literature into English, French, German or Spanish, please apply for the Grants for Korean Literary Works Translation & Publication
3. 신청자격 Qualification of Applicants
- 해외에서 한국문학을 연구하고 있는 교수・연구인・학생・한국문학 번역가
Any professor, researcher, student, or translator of Korean literature living abroad
- 해외에서 한국문학을 연구하고 있는 기관
Institute working in the area of Korean literature overseas
4. 지원대상자 선발 Selection Process
- 접수된 지원신청서에 따라 본 재단 심의위원회에서 심의, 선발합니다.
The applications will be screened by a screening committee.
5. 지원대상자 Number of Grants
- 약간명 A small number of institutes and individuals.
6. 지원금 Amount of Grant
- 심의결과에 따라 지원금을 결정, 지급합니다.
Actual amount of grants will be decided in the screening process.
7. 신청기간 Application Period
- 2009년 5월 1일(금) ～ 8월 31일(월)
Applications should be sent to the Foundation between May 1 and August 28, 2009.
8. 제출서류 Documents Required for Application
1) 신청서(소정양식) Application form
2) 참고 및 증빙자료
Other samples and references which may be helpful to judging the applicant's qualification.
3) 번역 샘플원고(A4용지 20장 이상 번역한 원고, 번역 및 출판 지원에 한함)
At least 20 A4 pages of sample translation (Translation and publication related to Korean literature only)
9. 결과발표 Announcement of Results
- 2009년 12월 중 개별통보
The results of the committee's screenings will be announced in December, 2009 and communicated to the individuals and institutes concerned.
10. 사업시행 기간 Time Frame of Project
- 사업시행 기간은 1년을 원칙으로 하나 1년 이상의 기간이 소요될 것으로 판단될 때에는 재단의 승인을 받아 연장 가능합니다.
The normal time frame of a project is one year. But this may be extended by prior
agreement of the Foundation in particular cases.
11. 지원금 지급 Awarding of Grants
- 지원금은 심의위원회의 의견에 따라 일시 또는 분할지급합니다. 분할지급의 경우, 지원이 결정된 후 50%를 지급하며, 잔여분 50%는 결과보고서를 접수, 검토한 후 사업의 진행결과에
따라 지급시기를 조정하여 지급합니다.
지원금은 국내세법에 따라 세금을 공제하고 지급합니다.
Grants can be awarded following the screening committee's recommendation, either in a lump sum or in two payments. In the latter case, half of the total grant will be awarded in advance and the remaining amount after receiving and reviewing the final report. Applicable tax will be deducted from the grant according to the provisions of the Korean tax law.
12. 중간보고서 및 결과보고서 Interim and Final Report
- 지원받은 자는 지원금 수령일로부터 6개월 이내에 사업 진행상황에 관한 중간보고서와 중간 결과물(50%이상 진행)을 소정양식에 따라 제출하고, 사업종료 시에는 결과보고서와 결과물을 제출하여야 합니다.
Recipients must submit at least fifty percent of the translation or the research along with the interim report within six months from the day of receiving the initial portion of the grant, and when completing the project, the recipient must submit a final report along with the final translation.
13. 연구결과물 Research Results
- 본 재단은 연구결과 및 보고서를 한국문학의 세계화 및 한국문화 선양을 위한 간행물 발간 등에 이용할 수 있습니다.
The Foundation may utilize the research results and reports for publication and other means in order to promote the globalization of Korean literature and to enhance the understanding of Korean culture.
14. 사업결과보고서 미제출자에 대한 관리
Failure to submit final report on the project
- 지원기간 종료 후 정해진 번역 기한(연장기한 포함)을 초과, 사업결과보고를 완료하지 못하고 장기미처리과제로 분류될 경우에는 재단 내부 사업기준에 따라 지원금을 환수하고 향후 3년간 재단 지원금에 대하여 신청을 제한함
If the grant period, including any extension, is exceeded and the final report on the project remains unsubmitted to the point it is classified as long-term delinquent, then in accordance with Daesan Foundation policy the project grant must be returned to the Foundation, after which the applicant may not re-submit an application for the translation and publication of Korean literary works for three years.
※ 사업결과보고서를 제출하지 않거나 허위(표절행위 등)로 한 번역자에 대하여는 재단 관리지침 및 협약에 의거한 제재 및 재단 홈페이지를 통한 명단 공개 등의 조치를 취함
In the event that the final report on the project is not submitted, or is submitted but proves fraudulent, sanctions will be enacted against the translator according to Foundation guidelines and the memorandum of agreement, sanctions including a notice on the Foundation homepage of the applicant's conduct.
15. 의무 Obligations
- 지원받은 자는 다음 사항을 성실히 이행하여야 합니다.
Those who receive support will faithfully abide by the following regulations:
1) 지원받은 자가 지원기간 중 사고, 질병 등의 신상변동 사항이 있어 정상적인 연구활동이 곤란한 경우 본 재단에 서면으로 보고하여야 합니다.
Those unable to continue a project due to illness or accident will notify the Foundation in writing.
2) 지원받은 자는 중도에 연구과제를 변경할 수 없습니다.
Projects may not be altered subsequent to support being granted.
3) 연구는 기간 내에 완결하여야 하나 사전협의에 의해 필요성이 인정될 경우 1년에 한하여 연장 가능합니다.
Projects should be completed within the time assigned. But extensions up to a year are possible subject to prior agreement.
4) 연구결과를 출판하거나 기타 지면에 게재할 때에는 본 재단의 연구지원을 받았음을 표기하여야 합니다.
All published research results, books or articles should acknowledge the financial support of the Foundation.

17. 기타사항 Other Information
1) 제출한 서류는 반환하지 않습니다.
Application forms and materials submitted to the Foundation will not be returned.
2) 지원이 확정된 후, 다음 각 호에 해당하는 사유가 발견되거나 발생하였을 경우에는 본 재단은 확정된 지원금의 지급을 취소, 중단하거나 이미 지급한 지원금의 전부 또는 일부를 반환하게 할 수 있습니다.
After being selected as a recipient of support from the Foundation, disbursement of funds may be rescinded or halted or recipients may be asked to return previously disbursed funds in whole or in part for the following reasons:
a. 신청 또는 보고사항에 허위사실이 발견되었을 때
False declaration in the application submission.
b. 지원금을 목적 외에 사용하였을 때
Funds applied for purposes other than those stated in the application submission.
c. 기타 부당하다고 인정되는 행위가 발견되었을 때
Other illegal acts.
3) 기타 필요한 사항은 재단이 정하는 바에 따릅니다.
The Foundation may make other stipulations as deemed necessary.

Ⅱ. 신청서 작성 요령 Application Instruction 신청서를 작성하기 전에 다음 작성 요령을 자세히 읽어 주십시오. Please read the following instruction carefully before you complete the application form. |
1. 서류는 한국어 또는 인쇄체 영어로 기록하십시오.
The application may be filled out in Korean or typewritten in English.
2. 지면이 부족한 경우 별지를 이용하십시오. Additional pages may be added as needed.
3. 지원신청은 개인 및 단체로 구분하여 표기합니다. 단, 단체로 신청할 때는 반드시 단체장 명의로 신청하기 바랍니다.
Applications for support may be made by individuals or institutes. When an institute applies, the application should be applied by the director of the institute.
4. 서명란에 한 서명은 신청인 또는 신청기관이 동 사업에 대하여 책임을 진다는 약속으로 간주합니다.
The signing of the application form by an individual or an institute will be taken as acceptance of the obligations entailed in the project.
5. 신청인 성명 또는 기관의 명칭 및 주소(전화번호 및 팩스번호 포함)
