“민족문화 창달”과 “한국문학의 세계화”를 추진하고 있는 대산문화재단은 한 민족의 정서이자 정신적 뿌리인 우리 문학을 세계화하고 문화교류를 증진하기 위해 한국문학작품의 번역·연구·출판을 지원합니다. 우리 문학의 번역지원은 세계화할 가치가 높은 작품을 선정, 번역(연구)하여 해당 언어권의 유수한 출판사에서 출판, 보급시켜 한국문학의 세계화를 촉진하려는 사업입니다. 대산문화재단은 교보생명보험주식회사를 일으킨 대산 신용호선생의 뜻에 따라 교보생명의 출연으로 설립되었습니다.

The DAESAN FOUNDATION, which promotes the "enrichment of Korean culture" and the "globalization of Korean culture," supports the translation, research, and publication of Korean works to foster the globalization of Korean culture and to advance cultural exchange.
The Foundation's Translation Grant selects, translates, and researches quality literary works worthy enough to globalize Korean literature, publishing these works at prestigious publishing companies of the target languages and promoting the globalization of Korean literature through the distribution of these works.
The DAESAN FOUNDATION was established according to the will of Yong-Ho "Daesan" Shin (the honorific name, Daesan, meaning "Great Mountain"), who founded Kyobo Life Insurance Co., Ltd. and is funded by Kyobo Life Insurance.

Grants will be awarded to respective languages according to the standard mentioned above; however, when the quantity of work to be translated is excessive, up to
5,000,000 KRW can be added to the original grant.
나. 연구지원금 Research Grant
어권별 지원금 범위 내에서 현지 물가 등을 반영하여 차등 지급
Grant awards can vary according to local living costs among other factors but will remain within the established range for research grants allotted for the respective language.
번역 및 연구를 완료한 사업은 출판비를 지원하며, 출판지원금은 작품 및 현지 출판실정 에 따라 책정함
Support for publication costs regarding completed translation works and research
출판지원만 희망하는 경우 심사를 통해 별도로 지원
In case of wanting only the publication grant, grants will be awarded separately after a screening process.

번역(출판)지원 Translation (Publication) Grant
한국문학작품을 외국어로 번역·연구할 수 있는 번역가로서 한국인과 외국인의 공동 번역이 가능한 사람
Full linguistic command of Korean and the target language and literary/ critical sensibility necessary for literary translation and research.
한국인과 외국인 가운데 한쪽이 주번역 다른 한쪽이 보조번역(교열, 윤문)이 가능한 사람
The translation should be a team effort composed of one Korean and one native speaker, one working as the head translator and the other as the assistant translator (copy editing, proofreading).
외국인과의 공동번역으로 한국문학 작품의 번역을 완료하고 출판을 준비 중인 사람
A native Korean translator who has completed the translation of a Korean literary work with a native speaker of the target language and is preparing to submit the translation for publication.
연구지원 Research Grant
해외에서 한국문학을 연구하고 있는 교수·연구인·학생·번역가
Any professor, researcher, student in the area of Korean literature, and any translator of Korean literature overseas.

The screening committee will consist of scholars and translators of Korean and pertinent foreign literatures.

기한 내에 방문 또는 우편으로 제출하여야 하며 우편접수의 경우 등기우편을 이용하여야 함.
The required documents and materials should be submitted to Foundation headquarters by registered mail or in person .
필명으로 신청한 경우에는 반드시 본명을 병기하여야 함.
Applicant using a pen name must ensure that his or her legal name is clearly noted in the application.
지원금 지급 Awarding of grants
확정된 지원금은 금융기관 송금방식에 의해 분할 지급함.
The award will be deposited into the team leader's bank account.
번역지원금은 2회 분할하여 번역착수시 50% 지급, 번역이 완료된 후 심의위원회의 심의를 통과하고 번역결과물과 결과보고서 제출을 완료하면 잔액 50%를 지급함.
The translation grant will be awarded in two parts, the first half immediately upon announcement, and the remainder after the completed translation is submitted and the evaluation committee endorses the quality and accuracy of the translation.
연구지원금은 2회 분할하여 연구착수시 50%, 연구가 완료된 후 연구결과물과 결과보고서 제 출 후 잔액 50%를 지급함.
The research grant will be awarded in two parts, the first half immediately upon announcement, and the remainder after submitting the final research results and final report.
출판지원금은 재단과 출판사간 출판계약 체결 후 출판사에 분할 지급함.
The publication grant will be awarded in two parts according to the terms of the contract between the Foundation and the publisher.
중간보고서 Interim Report
번역(연구)지원을 받은 사람은 번역(연구)지원금 수령일로부터 6개월 이내에 번역(연구)진행상 황에 관한 중간보고서와 중간번역(연구)결과물(50% 이상 진행)을 소정양식에 따라 제출하여야 함.
Grant recipients are required to submit an interim report on the progress of the translation (research) along with, at least, fifty percent of the translation (research) within six months of receiving the first installment of the grant.
번역(연구)결과물
Rights and Obligations of Grant Recipients Regarding the Finished Translation (Research)
번역(연구)결과물의 모든 권리는 원작자 또는 원작자와의 협의내용에 따라 번역자(연구자)에 있음. 단, 본 재단은 번역(연구)결과물 및 보고서를 한국문학의 세계화와 민족문화 창달을 위 한 간행물발간 등에 사용할 수 있음.
The copyright of the translation (research) belongs to the translator (researcher) or the author, or jointly, according to the translation agreement between the author and the translator(s) (researcher).
However, the Foundation reserves the right to publish the translation (research results) and the translators' (researcher's) final reports in its own publications for the purpose of promoting international recognition of Korean literature.
번역결과물은 당 재단 심의위원회의 심의를 거침.
The completed translation will be examined by an evaluation committee.
번역결과물은 해당언어권의 출판사에서 출판하며 번역자는 현지출판을 위한 출판사 섭외, 교 열(윤문) 등에 적극 협조하여야 함.
The translation should be published in the country of the target language, and the translators should be actively cooperative in securing a reputable publisher. The grant recipients should cooperate with the publisher in reviewing edited copy, all proofs, cover design, cover copy, and any other materials involved in the publication of their translation.
연구결과물은 학술회의에서 발표 또는 학술지에 게재하여야 하며, 연구물을 출판할 경 우 연구자는 현지출판을 위한 출판사 섭외, 교열(윤문) 등에 적극 협조하여야 함.
Research results should be published in academic journals or presented at academic conferences; when publishing research materials, the researcher should actively cooperate in securing a publisher and be involved in the editing and proofreading process.
번역·연구·출판 결과보고서 미제출자에 대한 관리 Failure to Submit Final Report on Translation, Research, and Publication
지원기간 종료 후 정해진 번역 기한(연장기한 포함)을 초과, 번역·연구·출판 결과보고를 완료하지 못하고 장기미처리과제로 분류될 경우에는 재단 내부 사업기준에 따라 지원금을 환수하고 향후 3년간 재단 번역·연구·출판 지원금에 대하여 신청을 제한함.
If the grant period, including any extension, is exceeded and the final report on translation, research, or publication remain unsubmitted to the point it is classified as long-term delinquent, in accordance with Daesan Foundation policy, the grant must be returned to the Foundation; the applicant may not re-submit an application for the translation, research, and publication of Korean literary works for three years.
※ 번역.연구.출판결과보고서를 제출하지 않거나 허위(표절행위 등)로 한 번역자에 대하여는 재단관리지침 및 협약에 의거한 제재 및 재단 홈페이지를 통한 명단 공개 등의 조치를 취함.
In the event, the grant recipient fails to submit a final report on translation, research, or
publication, or the submitted material proves fraudulent, sanctions will be enacted against the translator or researcher according to Foundation guidelines and the memorandum of agreement, sanctions including a notice on the Foundation's homepage regarding the translator's or researcher's conduct.
지원 대상자의 의무 Obligation of the Grant Recipient
지원을 받은 사람은 지원 기간 중 사고, 질병 등의 신상변동 사항이 있어 정상적인
번역이 곤란한 경우, 본 재단에 서면으로 보고하여야 함.
If any illness, accident, or contingencies arise to prevent the grant recipients from fulfilling the terms of their contract, they should notify this information to the Foundation in writing.
지원을 받은 사람은 도중에 번역(연구) 대상작품을 변경할 수 없음. 단, 사업추진과 관련하여 일정 및 내용변경이 불가피하거나 꼭 필요하다고 인정되는 경우 재단의 사전 승인을 얻어야 함.
Grant recipients should not change the works to be translated without prior approval of the Foundation. If alteration and/or adjustment of the translation project becomes necessary, grantees should obtain prior approval from the Foundation.
번역결과물 출판 시, 해당 작품 판권란 또는 서문에 재단의 번역지원을 받아 번역, 출판되었음 을 표기하여야 함.
The Foundation's financial support should be clearly acknowledged in the preface or on the copyright page of the published book.
연구결과물을 학술회의에서 발표하거나 학술지에 게재할 때에는 표지 또는 서문에 재단의 연구지원을 받았음을 표기 하여야 하며, 연구결과물 출판 시에는 해당 연구물 판 권란 또는 서문에 재단의 연구지원을 받아 연구, 출판되었음을 표기하여야 함.
When presenting the research results at an academic conference or publishing the results in an academic journal, the researcher should acknowledge receiving a research grant from the Foundation in the cover page or the preface. When publishing research results, the researcher must acknowledge that research and publication was made possible through a grant by the Foundation in the preface or the copyright page.
기타 Miscellaneous Information
제출한 서류와 작품은 반환하지 않음.
Application forms and materials submitted to the Foundation will not be returned.
지원이 확정된 후 다음 각호에 해당하는 사유가 발견되거나 발생하였을 경우에는 본 재단 이사장의 권한으로 확정된 번역지원금의 지급을 취소, 중단하거나 이미 지급한 지원금의 전부 또는 일부를 반환하게 할 수 있음 .
The Foundation reserves the right to cancel or suspend the grant and/or demand the return of all or part of a grant already awarded in the following cases.
가. 신청 또는 보고사항에 허위사실이 발견되었을 때
If erroneous information is discovered in the application or supporting materials.
나. 지원금을 목적 외에 사용하였을 때
If the grant recipients are found to have used the grant for purposes other than those
specified in their contract.
다. 목적달성이 불가능하다고 인정될 때
If fulfilling the terms of the contract becomes impossible.
라. 번역결과물에 대한 심의 결과 번역수준이 현저히 떨어진다고 인정될 때
If the translation is deemed substandard by the evaluation committee.
마. 기타 부당하다고 인정되는 행위가 발견되었을 때
If the grant recipients are found guilty of a misdemeanor.
본 요강에 명시되지 않았거나 기타 필요한 사항은 본 재단의 정관 및 제규정이 정하는 바에 따름.
Contingencies not specified in these guidelines will be addressed according to Foundation by-laws and rules.
